Things to know about Pizza

Posted on May 3, 2012, 6:34pm

I've always been a fan of pizza since then. I manage to buy slices of them when I roam in malls and the likes. But aside from being our favorite snack during past time, pizza has an abundant historical story to tell. So let's start with the definition.

Pizza is a type of bread and tomato dish, often served with cheese, that has existed since time immemorial in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. A dish of the poor people, it was sold in the street and was not considered a kitchen recipe for a long time.

Pizza is Greek in origin. The Ancient Greeks covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese. The Romans developed placenta, a sheet of dough topped with cheese and honey and flavored with bay leaves. Modern pizza originated in Italy as the Neapolitan pie with tomato. In 1889, cheese was added. In 1889, during a visit to Naples, Queen Margherita of Italy was served a pizza resembling the colors of the Italian flag, red (tomato), white (mozzarella) and green (basil). This kind of pizza has been named after the Queen as Pizza Margherita.

There are varieties of pizzas all over the world. Some countries like Australia, Brazil, Malaysia, India, Israel, Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, United States, Sweden and Japan have their own version of pizzas.

But pizza can be high in salt, fat and calories. There are concerns about negative health effects. And popular pizza varieties in many parts of the world are often loaded with high fat cheeses and fatty meats, a high intake of which can contribute to obesity, itself a risk factor for cancer. Still, who'll not crave for these luscious dish?

Giving Away Give Aways

Posted on April 29, 2012, 6:08 pm

Thanks to Ate Jen of sofabulous.com. I got this prizes last Wednesday and I didn't expect to have them in no time. Too bad, LBC didn't delivered the package directly in our door, they said that our vicinity is too far from kabihasnan. Yes, but sometimes, packages reach us, like FedEx, and Yellowcab too. :P And that's the reason why I prefer Mom's school as shipping address than our home address.

I love joining giveaways. I am also planning to host my own once I got sponsorship. :P

By the way, Ate Gel of Hoshigirl.com is hosing a birthday giveaway in her blog. You want to have this?

Summer Wishlist

Posted on April 27, 2012, 2:18pm

I hate summers! Even I don't have assignments and projects to finish, I don't have money to buy stuffs too. I've been daydreaming over and over again for the last 72 hours about what I wanna have and what I wanna buy for myself. I hate being broke! I hate it!
At kapag walang pera, sa bahay lang parate, walang kulay ang buhay, palaging gutom, tulo laway. Huhu. Ang hirap naman.
Ok, stop with my nonsense drama. Soh invited me to join her and her family in Star City on the first week of June. I don't have any idea when is the first day of school. My classmate planned and told me that we must start applying for part time job. We don't have to be choosy on what kind of job will it be. Yet still, I don't want to work on fast food chains, where jobs are so hard and exhausting. I can see the employees running and running all over the place, serving and providing the needs of the customers. Why is it I'm not like that when I got my first OJT (on-the-job) training in Max's Restaurant? Perhaps it's because that restaurant is a semi fine dining so we have to be semi formal. What did I say lah? Whatever!

Here's my updated wishlist:
  • Braces
  • Black jacket or sweater
  • korean style shoes
  • Checkered skirt
  • Black bangels
  • Chickara hat
  • Post it
  • Superman shirt
  • Varsity jacket
  • Part time job
  • Wear contact lenses
  • Dye my hair
  • Play with snow
  • Try ice skating
  • Color my room pink
  • Try sushi with fresh fish meat
I wish I'll have a chance to have these this summer. (Until the last day of the year :P)

Ok, let's eat.

La Virginia Resort

Posted on April 11, 2012, 7:47pm

I got my grades this afternoon, and yes, just like what I expected, I got low grades. Ofcourse I did my best, but I guess my best wasn't good enough. :(

By the way, last last month, we had our project in Club and Resort Management, it was all about resorts, the history, facilities and amenities, and other stuffs like that. We have chosen La Virginia Resort located in Lipa. Actually, we have 6 resorts in our list, and since La Virginia was the nearest among others, we have decided to visit the resort. Php300 for the entrance fee, you can enjoy the scenic and fantastic view of the resort, enjoy the pool, and take pictures on their spots. Other facilities, including huts, cottages are not free of use.

John, Faye, Gladyz and ME.
With Mrs. Hernandez, the hospitable General Manager of the resort.
Our packed lunch. Roasted chicken courtesy of Gladyz.
Tuna spaghetti, made by ME.
And grilled fish, courtesy of John.
The Pagoda House, The Castle, Guest Houses

Fruity Cottages near the Fruity pool
Some of the sculptures found inside the vicinity.

The fantastic view of Taal Lake.
Ifugao Village, where you can see the Ifugao houses
And yes, because of our curiosity, we tried zipline ride too.

They also offer different kinds of sports and recreational activities like Badminton (how did I say so? They have badminton court.), Basketball, but to experience that, you need to pay. Haha.
We enjoyed our stay in the resort even though the wind that night (we slept there for one night) wanted to knock us down, so forceful and cold.

Well Hello Vacation!

Posted on April 1, 2012, 08:12pm

First day of the month of April, and yes, hello vacation! Even though I still have one unfinished business with my teacher in Club and Resort Management cause I won't be able to join the International tour (sadly, that's life. but this is another opportunity for me :D). My mom told me I can have braces this vacation. :) BUT, I got an INC in my card. To fill this, I need to create a business plan alone. Wow! That's exciting! Really, and it's like I wanna do this.

And then, I'll need to pay P600+ for the special permit. That's smaller than P30,000 (fare cost). There were so many controversies in school, that's why I haven't posted anything in my blog. I really miss blogging, blog hopping, html-ing, editing, et al. If I'll have time to spare, I'll change my template into a new one. It's been raining the whole time. And I just hope that it will not rain tomorrow. And yes, thanks to my teacher in Events Management, she granted my wish to have one of the premium notes of our school.

What else? People do change. We really can’t tell how long will this/that person will stay as he/she is. It’s true that change is the only constant thing in the world. They don't stay on the way they use to be. They think everything has a reason and we can't never change that. But it's us who hold our lives. We are the one who has the power to manipulate our lives. There's no such destiny. No lines on our palm, traces on the stars that can tell weather we'll succeed or something. We are creating our own. So, if we want to have our old lives, true friends back, it must start with ourselves. (May pinaghuhugutan. Hehe) I just want to take my chances. Be a better person. Stop arguing with others about what you have not do and about what they did. We're old enough and we need to act our age. Impose maturity, not immaturity. Bow. Whew. That's long. There's a story behind this really. I just don't want to make things complicated. :P
