DIY: Buttermilk Substitute

Buttermilk is a fermented milk, it is tart and contains lactic acid. It is one of the main ingredient in making buttermilk cookie or red velvet cupcake. Actually, it is not composed of butter and milk, what the name states itself (which is pretty confusing).

LET'S GET STARTED!

You'll need:

  • 1 cup full cream milk
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar (can be replaced with 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice)

Just add vinegar to milk and let sit until it curdles for five minutes or until needed. And that's it! You can now make an occasionally used baking stuff from the most common food you can find at home.

Here's my homemade oh-so-fluffy-I'm-gonna-die red velvet cupcake for everyone! :D You don't need to spend too much, just visit my blog cause homemade food are always the best!

  2. oh no sis! the cream on top is called Buttercream/creamcheese frosting (depending on the shops), buttermilk is used in making the cake itself, parang pinakawater+flavoring po niya.
