The Five Boro Bike Tour is an annual recreational cycling event in New York City. It is produced by Bike New York. Conducted on the first Sunday of May, the 40-mile (64 km) ride includes over 30,000 riders. The route takes riders through all five of New York's boroughs and across five major bridges. The entire route, including bridges and expressways which normally prohibit cyclists, is closed to automobile traffic for the ride.

For a $110 Standard Registration for the Five Boro Bike Tour, you’ll get:

• Fully stocked rest areas along the route
• A commemorative Finisher medal and access to the Finish Festival
• A personal rider photo gallery
• The opportunity to see NYC like you never have before with 40 miles of car-free biking
• To upgrade your Standard Registration by combining with Bike New York membership! For $150, you’ll enjoy all the perks of being a Bike New Yorker, plus guaranteed access to early registration for the 2020 Tour.

You can rent a bike with unlimited biking from the official rental partner of Bike New York or you can use your very own 3 Speed Road Bike for the event.

New York is known to be chock-full of SoulCycle and Flywheel studios, but it’s also home to some pretty cool bike trails, including the country’s first-ever official bike path known as Ocean Parkway Bike Path. This tried-and-true Brooklyn trail starts in Prospect Park and heads all the way south to Coney Island.

The best way to head to Coney Island is, of course, by bike. And you can do it easily on some comfortable hybrid bicycles on the Ocean Parkway Bike Path, which runs from Prospect Park all the way to Coney Island in a completely separated section of the road. There’s a section for pedestrians and one for bikes, all with a median divider between the road and the path. That’s what makes this a great ride for the family, and often, the path is full of young kids learning how to ride with their parents. Biking is a healthy activity for all ages. This spring and summer, bring your bikes and head over to New York City for some fun biking events with your family and friends.
